There are a few centers of night life in the city:
VAV neighborhood- Ringelbloom St. is a great area for cafes, little restaurants of all kinds- Indian food, sushi, Bedouin style hookah lounge and more. In the streets of DALED the night life spots are more spread out and scattered: few bars, a humus- reggae place, and cafes. The BET area it's quieter, and there are only a couple of places on the corner to hangout and have a beer. GIMMEL has an assortment of bars, pubs, hookah lounge and a karaoke place. On campus there is a little cinema called Negative- which shows new and classic movies with low price tickets.
Now- these are only the places located within a few minutes' walking distance from where you live. Only a drive or bus rideaway, there is:
The One Plaza and the Big are shopping centers which feature a variety of restaurants, pool bar, bowling, movie theaters, ice cream shops, in addition to all the other stores and shops you can find anywhere- shoes, clothes, books, sports, etc.
The Old City has a surprisingly active night life, and in a hundred-year old buildings there are clubs, pubs, restaurants and tapas bars, as well as quiet places for coffee. In the summer there are street fairs on the beautiful Smilanski Street.
There are a few places for live performances and concerts around town, and artists, musicians and performers come to play here all the time.
In addition to all this, the university and the Student Union occasionally organize different events and concerts. But the best places are parties that students throw in their own houses - sometimes on the basis of free drinks and a small entrance charge, and sometimes in a "bring your own drink" style.
Either way- whatever it is you're looking for- there's always something to do!
