Visiting Lecturers

Prof. Oren Yiftachel teaches political geography, urban planning and public policy at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Yiftachel is one of the main critical geographers and social scientists working in Israel.

Timea Spitka specializes in conflict mediation and resolution. She had previously worked for various international organisations, including for UN in Bosnia and Herzegovina advising on political and security matters. 

Galit Gelbort specializes in studying the relationship between security and privatization in the two conflict zones of Israel/Palestine and Nigeria.  worked for eight years in the human rights NGO sector in Jerusalem.

Julia Chaitin received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. Julia combines academic work with social justice activism. In addition to her work in Resource Development at NISPED, she is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Social Work at Sapir Academic College. In 2001 – 2002, she held the Lentz Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Peace and Conflict Resolution Research at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and from 2003 – 2006 she was an Assistant Professor of Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies at Nova Southeastern University. Julia was also one of the designers of the Conflict Studies graduate program at Ben Gurion University of the Negev.  

Jonathan Weiler is Director of Undergraduate Studies in Global Studies at Uiversity of North Carolina Chapel Hill. His first book, Human Rights in Russia, was published by Lynne Rienner Publishers in 2004. His second book, Authoritarianism and Polarization in American Politics, co-authored with Marc Hetherington, was published by Cambridge University Press in August 2009.

Dr. Doron Shultziner holds a BA in political science and Middle Eastern studies and MA (Summa Cum Laude) in political science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD from the University of Oxford. His research interests cover various topics ranging from Israeli politics and society, through comparative democratization, to interdisciplinary approach to politics.

Dahlia Scheindlin is an international political consultant and public opinion analyst.  At present she is one of the country’s leading pollsters and political analysts associated with progressive causes and peace/conflict research. In addition, she has developed research-based strategy for political, social, and corporate campaigns in more than a dozen countries.
